Gilbert Days is a week-long celebration of Gilbert’s rich western heritage coming November 13-22, 2009. The celebration kicks off with the re-enactment of the historical Pony Express ride. The whole family is invited to participate in the ride and other family-friendly activities.
The Gilbert Days Parade takes place Saturday morning and is a dazzling spectacle for the whole family. Immediately after the parade is the After Parade Party outside Gilbert Town Hall complete with food, entertainment, and a Chili Cook Off.
Next, are the showcase events for the cowboys and cowgirls that come from all over the country to participate in the Gilbert Days Jackpot Roping, Competition Barrel Racing and the Gilbert Days Budweiser IPRA Rodeo. Once again the Gilbert Days Budweiser IPRA Rodeo is co-sanctioned by the Grand Canyon State Rodeo Association. But before the adults have their fun, the little ones get to compete in the Lil’ Dudes Rodeo held before each adult rodeo competition. Right next to the Gilbert Rodeo Park arena is the Gilbert Days Carnival, complete with rides, games, prizes, and mouth-watering concessions.
